No. 18 Arizona State apparently will open the season against an opponent still to be determined.

CBS reported Monday that No. 2 Baylor withdrew from this week's 2K Empire Sports Classic after coach Scott Drew announced his positive test for COVID-19. Earlier in the day, it was reported that Arizona State had withdrawn due to concerns over playing the Bears.

Now, organizers of the four-team tournament seem to be scrambling for a replacement.

The Sun Devils and Bears were supposed to open the season on Wednesday night at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. The event schedule also includes No. 3 Villanova taking on Boston College, with the winners of the two games facing off on Thanksgiving night.

Drew tested positive Friday and announced his result Sunday night. He said the rest of the Bears tested negative Friday and Sunday and would be retested Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Arizona State is entering its sixth season under head coach Bobby Hurley. The Sun Devils finished 20-11 last year, including an 11-7 mark in the Pac-12.
